Greetings! This post is about my first month’s affiliate commissioning results and my way ahead. I’ve learned -A LOT- in one month about affiliate commissioning, social media presence and SEO rankings. I hope my results can give other newbies realistic expectations. I’ve included a ‘bottom line up front’ for those who just want to forgo the details and dive straight into the results.

Bottom Line Up Front: My Amazon Affiliate website is 1 month old and has so far generated $4.64. I have absolutely no experience in affiliate marketing, SEO, and social media marketing. I have been using popular social media websites and video hosting to promote my content and backlink my website. The traffic to my site receives an average of 5-7 daily visits; 4 being the lowest and 24 being the highest. The total amount of money I have spent on my site (hosting, advertisements, etc) is around $200. My plan is to continue pushing my social media accounts and videos to increase traffic and begin making bigger affiliate commissions.

Results I made $4.64 in my first month and very recently too! The following image is from my Amazon associate’s overview:

The number of product visits have been less than 10 for the past 30 days; total of 67 clicks thus far. I’m very surprised that I was able to make a commission so quick.

The following image is from my Google Analytics account:

The highest number of visits to my site was 24 and the lowest is 4. Unfortunately, the number of visits isn’t increasing steadily as time progresses but has random spikes. Most visits come during the weekdays.

The following image is from my Google Adwords:

I’m only spending $5 a day on my advertising. As you can see, the number of clicks from the advertisement is less than 10; usually it’s around 5-7 on weekdays. What I’ve also noticed is that the Google Adwords graph doesn’t have a 100% direct correlation to the Google Adwords. This leads me to believe that my social media marketing is actually working!

Social Media/Advertisement Methods Here is a list of Social Media and other sites I use to help spread my links and website:

  1. Facebook Fan Page: I’ve spent $0 on getting FB likes for the page but I plan on joining FB groups related to my niche and request permission to advertise.

  2. Twitter: By far the easiest Social Media tool I use to promote my content.

  3. Instagram

  4. Youtube: I believe this is where most of my traffic sources are coming from…not sure…

  5. Tumblr

  6. Quora

  7. Slideshare

  8. Veoh

  9. Daily Motion

  10. Blogspot

  11. Stumbleupon

  12. Pinterest

  13. Google+

The Way Ahead I am about to utilize FB ads for about $35 a month. FB is also currently running a promotion where the first month of $35 will be free (with terms and conditions). I would like to see the results and the number of people the ad reaches out to. My plan is to also begin product reviews and posting them on Youtube and my other social media accounts. I was really surprised to see how many people on Youtube watch unboxing videos on my niche. My social media presence is definitely the main driving force for my website visits.

Another marketing technique that I plan on using is business cards. It is illegal (in the US) to put business cards in mailboxes, so I plan to put them in people’s doors. It’s really cheap to have a few hundred business cards made (in color) and I live near a school which favors my niche. #Whateverittakes

Conclusion To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to make any money for at least 3 months. Now that I have actually made money, I’m excited to see what the next month brings. This whole SEO business and social media marketing has really inspired and challenged me to think outside the box. My goal is to try and make $50 in May and eventually enough money (maybe in the $ hundreds) to start another website.

Thanks for reading ? I’ll try to answer any questions if there are any!
